Patna: A one-day state-level review meeting was held at Health Bhawan in Patna under the chairmanship of Health Minister Mangal Pandey, where it was announced that 110 new hospitals will be inaugurated in Bihar within 90 days. The project, worth approximately Rs. 400 crore, includes model hospitals, maternal and child hospitals, community health centers, and additional primary health centers across five districts.

The Health Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The state currently operates 69 FRUs (First Referral Units), and 40 more units will become operational soon. Pandey also emphasized the importance of training staff nurses, aiming to have 50 percent skilled birth attendants by December 2024.

In the meeting, various health programs under the National Health Mission were thoroughly reviewed. Key topics discussed included maternal and child health, the Janani Suraksha Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat. The availability of pathology tests and ensuring sufficient medicines at all facilities were given priority.

Additionally, the Health Minister set a goal to make Bihar hydrocele-free by March 2025, urging officials to identify illegal abortion and ultrasound clinics and take swift action to close them.
