14 Lakh Pucca Houses To Be Built for Bihar’s Poor in Next 7–8 Months: Shivraj

Patna: Heaping praise on Nitish Kumar-led government for it’s efficient and effective implementation of rural development schemes, Union Rural Development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday announced that around 14 lakh pucca houses to be built for eligible poor people of the state in next seven eight months.
Singh, who also holds agriculture and farmers welfare portfolio, said that a total of Rs 8,000 crore will be spent for building pucca houses under PM Awas Yojana for eligible poor people of the state.
“A total of 7.90 lakh pucca houses built under PM Awas Yojana were given to eligible candidates of the state last year. Out of ‘Awaas + 18 list’, 5.20 lakh pucca houses were yet to be given to the eligible candidates, besides 5.20 lakh new pucca houses will be built for those residing in kutcha house”, Singh said.
“Altogether 14 lakh new pucca houses will be built for eligible poor people of the state in next seven-eight months “, the minister said and added that a sum of Rs 8,000 crore will be transferred directly into bank accounts of the poor people of the state through single click for the purpose.
Accompanied by union minister for Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Bihar’s Dy CMs Samrat Choudhary & Vijay Kumar Sinha, Singh said that PM Narendra Modi has taken a resolve for “Viksit Bharat” (developed India) for which “Viksit Bihar” is necessary and the NDA government in the state is working in close coordination with the Centre.
Singh held an hour long meeting to review the progress of the various schemes of rural development department of the state.
“We held a meeting to review the rural development department’s work. I am happy to say that it is an efficient and ideal implementation of each and every scheme of the department under the leadership of Nitish Babu (Nitish Kumar). I congratulate Bihar government for such an efficient and ideal implementation of the scheme” Singh said.
He said that the number of “lakhpati Didis” has crossed more than three lakh in the state and a new target of making 20 lakh lakhpati Didis have been set for this year.
Stating that April 24 is a Panchayati Raj diwas, the union minister said that PM will be in Bihar on that day.
A national conference of elected Panchayati Raj institutions will be held on the occasion, Singh said adding that schemes and projects will be dedicated to the people besides laying stones for some other schemes.
The review meeting was also attended by Health Minister Mangal Pandey,
Rural Development Department minister Shrawan Kumar, ministers Nitin Nabin, Lesi Singh, Kedar Prasad Gupta.
Besides, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena along with Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries of the departments concerned were present during the meeting.
