16 New Dengue Cases Reported in Muzaffarpur Over Four Days, Total Rises to 124
Muzaffarpur: Sixteen new dengue cases have been detected in Muzaffarpur district over the past four days, with the patients hailing from areas like Mushahari, Minapur, and Aurai Katra. This brings the total number of dengue cases in the district to 124 since January, according to reports from SKMCH. The health department is now facing challenges as the virus spreads to new areas.
Dr. Sudhir Kumar, District Vector Borne Disease Officer, explained that the fluctuating weather conditions are contributing to the rise in dengue cases. In response, air-conditioned dengue wards have been established at SKMCH and Sadar Hospital. While dengue cases continue to climb, no chikungunya cases have been reported since September 1, providing some relief to the health authorities.
Fogging operations are being conducted by the health department in the homes of dengue patients and surrounding areas to control the spread of the disease. Last year, Muzaffarpur recorded 432 dengue cases, and with an average of seven new cases emerging each day, there are concerns that this year’s figures may surpass last year’s total.
