243 Bihar MLAs to Receive Housing by March 2025; Bapu Tower Sees 2,600 Visitors in a Month
Patna: By March 2025, 243 Bihar MLAs are expected to have dedicated housing, a project that was initiated in 2017. Of these, 143 MLAs will have housing available for only eight months, as allocations for 100 MLAs and all MLCs have already been completed. The remaining residences are still under construction.
The MLA housing project, which started in 2017, faced delays that resulted in action against the original contractor, who was blacklisted for not meeting deadlines. In 2022, a new agency took over, and construction efforts were resumed, progressing steadily toward the March 2025 target.
Meanwhile, Patna’s newly inaugurated Bapu Tower has become a significant attraction, with 2,600 visitors recorded over the past 28 days. Approximately 100 people visit daily to explore this symbolic structure, which was inaugurated for public viewing by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on October 2.
Currently, no entry fee is required to visit Bapu Tower, though ticketing will be introduced soon. The tower houses memories, symbols, and philosophies connected to Mahatma Gandhi, drawing visitors eager to experience this tribute to the leader’s legacy.
