4 Injured in Suspected Acid Attack Over Family Feud in Bihar’s Samastipu

Samastipur / Patna : Four individuals, including a woman, sustained injuries in an alleged acid attack in Bhagwatpur village, Samastipur district, on Friday evening. The incident, believed to stem from a longstanding family feud, occurred around 6 PM under the jurisdiction of the Sarairanjan police station.

The victims have been identified as Suresh Das, his wife Babita Devi, Charitra Das, and Baleshwar Das. Local residents promptly transported them to Samastipur Sadar Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

“We have received information that a chemical substance, suspected to be acid, was thrown on the victims. We will confirm the substance’s exact nature through forensic analysis. Additionally, there are injuries suggesting physical assault. We are investigating the matter from all angles, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.” ASP Sanjay Pandey said.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack is linked to an ongoing dispute between the families of Suresh Das and Motilal Rai. According to the victims’ family, the accused—Chandan (son of Motilal), Munna Kumar, and Dharmendra—had previously entered their home under the influence of alcohol and have been pressuring them to withdraw a case filed against them. An FIR had been registered at Sarairanjan police station, and the matter is currently under judicial consideration.

The accused fled the scene following the attack. Police have recorded statements from the victims and are conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
