4 School Children Killed in Patna as Speeding Truck Hits Auto

Patna: Four school children lost their lives on Friday when a speeding truck collided head-on with an auto carrying 12 children in the Bihta police station area of Patna. The children, aged 7 to 10 and studying in classes 2 to 5 at Sun Size School in Vishambpur village, were returning home after school.

The collision, which occurred on the main road outside Vishambpur village, left the auto shattered, with all the children thrown onto the road. While four children died on the spot, eight others and the driver were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. The impact of the collision highlighted the truck’s excessive speed.

Angered by the tragedy, local residents caught the truck driver and assaulted him. They vandalised and set the truck on fire before blocking the road in protest. The incident caused significant tension in the area, with villagers demanding stricter road safety measures.

Police teams from Bihta and neighbouring stations, led by Danapur DSP Pankaj Mishra, reached the spot to manage the situation. However, calming the agitated crowd proved challenging. Efforts are ongoing to restore order while investigating the cause of the crash.

The grieving families of the deceased, all residents of Vishambpur village, are now calling for justice and accountability. The tragedy has once again raised concerns over reckless driving and road safety in Bihar.
