8 Days Left to Avail 5% Rebate on Property Tax in Patna

Patna residents have until June 30 to claim a 5% discount on property tax, with all municipal tax counters now open daily, including Sundays and holidays.

Patna: With just eight days remaining to avail a 5% rebate on property tax payments, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that all tax counters will remain open even on Sundays and public holidays. This initiative aims to ease the rush as thousands of residents attempt to pay their dues before the June 30 deadline.

The discount, valid from April 1 to June 30, has seen a significant turnout at all tax counters across PMC’s six zones. To manage the surge, counters are now operating from 9 am to 9 pm on regular days, with staff working in two shifts. The municipal commissioner has instructed that the extended hours and weekend openings continue until the end of the discount period.

From July 1 to September 30, taxpayers will no longer receive any benefit, although no penalty will be charged during that window. However, starting October 1 until March 31, a 1.5% penalty will be imposed for delayed payments.

To streamline the process, the corporation has also expanded digital payment facilities. Residents can pay their property tax online via the PMC portals — pmc.bihar.gov.in and pmcptax.bihar.gov.in — or through the WhatsApp chatbot 924447449. Additionally, demand letters are being distributed door-to-door by municipal staff to assist residents with timely payments.

The PMC has urged all property holders to pay their taxes promptly to take advantage of the ongoing rebate and avoid future penalties.
