Langat Singh College Pays Tribute to Pulwama Martyrs

Muzaffarpur: Langat Singh College marked the sixth anniversary of the Pulwama attack with a solemn tribute at Gandhi Park, honouring the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the 2019 attack. The event, led by Principal Prof. Om Prakash Roy, underscored the need for self-reliance in defence technology and a stronger national security framework.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Roy stressed the critical need for self-reliance in defense technology, asserting that India must develop its own robust defense industry to effectively combat terrorism and safeguard its borders. “Terrorism, in any form, is a threat to humanity, and we must be prepared to face it with strength and resolve,” Prof. Roy stated. “We cannot rely on others for our defense needs. A strong and independent defense sector is crucial for our nation’s security.”

He emphasized the rapid pace of change in global defense technology and argued that self-sufficiency is the only way to effectively counter threats, including cross-border aggression. “We must invest in research and development and encourage innovation in the defense sector,” he added. “This is not just a matter of national security but also a matter of national pride.” Prof. Roy also appreciated the government’s initiatives through ‘Make in India’ toward self-reliance in defense equipment, noting its positive impact on indigenous production and technological advancement.

Dr. Rajeev Kumar, the college’s NCC officer, recalled the armed forces’ decisive response to the Pulwama attack, calling it a strong message against terrorism. NCC cadets from the 2/32 Bihar Battalion recited patriotic poems and delivered speeches in tribute to the fallen soldiers.

The ceremony concluded with a two-minute silence in memory of the martyrs. Faculty members, including Prof. N.N. Mishra, Dr. Rituraj Kumar, Dr. Navin Kumar, Sujit Kumar, Guru Prasad Kashyap, Rishi Kumar, and Satyendra Kumar, joined a large number of students in paying their respects.
