Bihar Land Survey: Self-Declaration Deadline Set for March as Urban Survey Preparations Begin

Patna: The Bihar government has set a March 2025 deadline for landowners to complete their self-declaration process as part of the ongoing second phase of the statewide special land survey. The self-declaration can be submitted both online and offline. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department is now accelerating survey activities in rural areas while gearing up to expand the process into urban areas.

Urban land survey preparations underway

The department is actively preparing for land surveys in cities and is expected to announce detailed guidelines soon. According to sources, land survey work has already begun in 26,786 revenue villages across 18 districts as part of the second phase. Meanwhile, the online self-declaration system is temporarily suspended until February 21 due to updates to departmental servers. Separate servers are being assigned to different divisional offices to streamline the process. Until then, landowners can submit their self-declaration forms, documents, and genealogy records at special survey camps at the block level.

7.8 million landowners have completed self-declaration

So far, around 7.8 million landowners have submitted their self-declarations. However, the temporary suspension of the online system has slowed down submissions, as landowners in remote areas face challenges reaching survey offices. In the meantime, the department has begun recording summaries of old land records (Khatian) as part of the survey process.
