Bihar Government Issues Notification for Land Survey and Settlement in 661 Villages

Patna: The Bihar government has issued a notification for land survey and settlement in 661 villages across 13 districts under the Bihar Special Survey and Settlement Act. The notification, signed by Revenue and Land Reforms Secretary Jai Singh, has been published in the gazette and uploaded on the department’s website.

According to the Directorate of Land Records and Measurement, final rights records for these villages were received from the settlement officers of 44 zones. The government has now officially accepted and published these records, making them legally conclusive.

Land Management and Social Harmony

Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal termed this a significant step toward efficient land management and social harmony in Bihar. He emphasized that this initiative will bring transparency and clarity in land ownership records, reducing disputes.

More Notifications to Follow

Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar Singh stated that the final publication process for another 300 villages is in its last phase and will be notified soon. The process includes land measurement based on new maps and updating land records (Khatian).

Sheikhpura district, which has 284 villages, has already completed the final publication for 207 villages, and the remaining will be covered soon. Similarly, in Begusarai’s Samho Kurha zone, 50 out of 56 mauzas have completed the survey and settlement process.
