Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation to Build First Marketing Complex at Deepnagar Chowk

Bhagalpur: Bhagalpur is set to get its first municipal marketing complex, with construction plans underway at Deepnagar Chowk. The seven-storey complex, including a basement, will be built on vacant land owned by the Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation. The proposal, approved by the corporation administration, was recently endorsed by the city government’s cabinet and has now moved into the implementation phase.
With the necessary approvals in place, the corporation has initiated the process of preparing a detailed project report (DPR). A consultant agency will be hired for the task, and a short-term quotation notice has already been issued for the selection process.
Officials believe the new marketing complex will provide business owners with a modern commercial space, easing congestion in the city’s main market areas. The project is also expected to generate additional revenue for the corporation, as shops in the complex will be rented out to traders.
Apart from Deepnagar Chowk, the corporation has identified additional locations for similar projects, including the Sikanderpur water tank complex, Kanji House in Nath Nagar, and land near Jawahar Cinema Road.
Aditya Jaiswal, in charge of Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation’s planning branch, confirmed that the quotation process for selecting a consultant is underway. Once an agency is appointed, the preparation of the DPR will begin.
