Bihar: Serious Allegations of Sexual Harassment Surface Against VIMS Pawapuri Staff, FIR registered
NALANDA – Female students from Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences previously known as Vardhman Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in Pawapuri, located in CM Nitish Kumar’s home district Nalanda, have come forward with serious allegations against four individuals, including the Head of the Department (HOD). The students claim they were subjected to inappropriate advances and harassment in order to secure passing grades.
According to the victims, HOD Vijendra Prasad, Dr. Nirmal Kumar, Dr. Ajay Kumar, and Clerk Ravi Ranjan are the accused. The students detailed disturbing encounters during a viva exam, accusing the accused of attempting to coerce them into compromising situations.
One student recounted her experience during a Wednesday viva exam, stating that after receiving low marks, she was summoned to discuss her grades. Allegedly, the HOD proposed inappropriate actions in exchange for passing grades. Another student, an OT assistant, reported a similar incident involving alcohol and unwanted advances from multiple individuals.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, with a case registered against the accused based on the formal complaint filed by the students. Pawapuri OP in-charge, Anita Kumari, confirmed the receipt of the application and assured a thorough investigation.
College Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar acknowledged the gravity of the allegations, revealing that a team, formed by the District Magistrate, is looking into the matter. The accused, however, vehemently deny the charges, labeling them as baseless.
In a concerning twist, the students have alleged that the principal attempted to suppress the matter. Dr. Ashok Kumar has refuted these claims, emphasizing the need for a fair and thorough investigation to reveal the truth.
