Bihar Agriculture Department Receives Award for Best State in Crop Production at the 14th Agriculture Leadership Awards 2023

New Delhi: Bihar’s Agriculture Department received acclaim and recognition at the 14th Agriculture Leadership Awards held in New Delhi on Thursday, securing the prestigious title of the Best State in Crop Production. The award highlights Bihar’s exceptional achievements in agriculture and underscores its unwavering commitment to sustainable farming practices and food security.

The eminent jury panel, chaired by Justice P Sathasivam, Former Chief Justice of India and Governor of Kerala, bestowed the award upon Bihar in acknowledgment of its outstanding performance in crop production.

During the ceremony in New Delhi, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Bihar, received the award from Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Secretary Agarwal credited the state’s diligent farmers for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing the government’s continuous efforts to support them under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“Bihar’s success in crop production is attributed to a comprehensive approach that integrates technology, research, and community engagement. The state’s agricultural policies have played a pivotal role in promoting sustainable practices, ensuring increased yields, and fostering economic growth in rural areas,” Agarwal said.

The Agriculture Secretary further outlined the state’s commitment to high and sustainable growth in agriculture through the concept of ‘Rainbow Revolution.’ He highlighted Bihar’s adoption of a multisectoral approach through Agriculture Roadmaps, dating back to 2008, which has led to multifarious positive effects on the agriculture and allied sector.

“The launch of the Fourth Agriculture Road Map (2023-28), entailing an estimated outlay of Rs. 1.62 lakh crore, by President Droupadi Murmu, further signifies Bihar’s dedication to holistic, comprehensive, and multisectoral development in this critical sector,” Agarwal said.
