Patna: Patna Women’s College wrapped up its three-day orientation programme on Wednesday, offering newly admitted Semester I students a comprehensive introduction to campus life, academic expectations and the institution’s core values.

Held from June 23- June 25, the programme combined informative sessions, motivational talks and cultural interactions aimed at helping students transition into college with a sense of purpose and belonging.

The final day began with the rendition of the college anthem, led by Dr Sister Nelsa A.C., Assistant Professor in the Department of English. The performance served as a symbolic gesture of unity and pride, marking a harmonious start to the day’s events.

A session on gender awareness, delivered by Professor Shefali Roy, a distinguished alumna and Director of the Institute of Public Administration at Patna University, underscored the importance of inclusivity and the need to challenge gender stereotypes. Roy, who formerly headed the Department of Political Science at the college, encouraged students to embrace diversity and become advocates for change.

Dr Soofia Fatima, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management, introduced students to the college’s extensive network of committees and clubs. Emphasising the value of holistic development, she highlighted the many extracurricular opportunities available to help students cultivate their interests and leadership skills.

A collaborative session led by Mr Adweetiya Sinha, Assistant Professor in Political Science, and Ms Amrita Prakash, Assistant Professor in Computer Applications and Coordinator of DISHA, shed light on the college’s career support initiatives. They outlined the role of DISHA, the college’s coaching, placement and counselling cell, in helping students navigate career paths and secure job opportunities.

Students also participated in a lively entertainment and refreshment segment coordinated by Dr Manjula Sushila, the college’s Sports Coordinator, offering a relaxed environment to socialise and build connections.

In her concluding address, Principal Dr Sister M. Rashmi A.C. encouraged students to strive for academic excellence and personal growth, urging them to embrace their college journey with confidence and commitment.

The programme ended with a prayer service led by Dr Sister Nelsa A.C., featuring hymns and spiritual readings. The closing ceremony provided a reflective and uplifting conclusion to the week’s activities.

The event was anchored by Ms Megha Kumari, Joint Secretary for Environment and Discipline in the Student Council 2025–26. It was organised under the leadership of Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Ms Enakshi Dey Biswas and Ms Puja Kumari—cultural coordinators and faculty members from the departments of History, Performing Arts and Commerce respectively.
