Bihar: Army Micro Light Aircraft Makes Emergency Landing in Gaya Wheat Field; Pilots Unharmed

Gaya: In a morning incident that stirred a quiet village in Gaya, an army micro light aircraft made an emergency landing in a wheat field in Kanchanpur, Bagdaha village, Bodhgaya police station area. Both male and female pilots aboard the two-seater, single-engine aircraft emerged unscathed, thanks to the swift response of villagers who pulled them to safety.

The mishap occurred during a routine training flight that originated from Gaya Officers Training Academy (OTA). Suddenly, the aircraft developed a technical fault, spiraling out of control before descending into the wheat field. Villagers were quick to respond, creating a scene of both chaos and relief as they rescued the pilots.

Officials from the training academy, including Furkan Mahir, an OTA Army officer, rushed to the site along with a team. The micro light aircraft, specifically designed for training purposes, is equipped to ensure the safety of its occupants in case of such incidents. Both pilots, following protocol, promptly informed the OTA office about the emergency landing.

Reflecting on the incident, Furkan Mahir stated, “Micro light aircraft emergency landing has been done in Bagdaha, Bodh Gaya. There was a technical fault in it, due to which I had to go to the field. There has been no damage of any kind.”

This assertion was further corroborated by Bodhgaya DSP Saurabh Jaiswal, who confirmed that due to a technical fault, the aircraft executed an emergency landing in the Kanchanpur field, ensuring the safety of both pilots.

This incident marks the second time an aircraft has fallen in the Bagdaha area of Bodhgaya police station, drawing attention to the need for continued diligence and safety measures in training flights. Micro light aircraft, commonly used for training purposes, are two-seater, single-engine planes that fly at altitudes ranging from 200 to 400 feet. The Officer Training Academy in Gaya is instrumental in providing aircraft-related training to Army soldiers.
