WJAI Expands and Assigns New Responsibilities in Executive Meeting

Patna: The National Executive of the Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) convened on Saturday in a detailed meeting aimed at expanding the organization and enhancing its operational efficiency. Held under the chairmanship of WJAI National President Anand Kaushal at Hotel Maitreya Inn, the meeting witnessed the appointment of new members to various roles and the creation of additional positions within the association.

Under the leadership of Anand Kaushal, along with National Vice President Dr. Leena and Technical Committee Chairman Luv Singh, the meeting saw significant developments. Madhup Mani Pikku was appointed as the National Secretary (Bihar in-charge), while Akbar Imam assumed the role of Office Secretary. Additionally, Ravi Shankar Sharma and Chandan Raj were appointed as national joint secretaries, with Ram Balak Roy assigned as Assistant Secretary to support the Office Secretary. To aid the Treasurer, the role of Co-Treasurer was established, filled by Manokamna Singh. Abhishek Kumar Singh was designated as the organization minister, tasked with expanding the organization continuously.

Furthermore, Suman Keshav Singh was appointed as the vice president, with a special focus on expanding the Bihar state unit. Singh, a seasoned journalist and Bihar in-charge of Navbharat Times Digital, will work towards strengthening the organization’s presence in the region.

During the meeting, Treasurer Manjesh Kumar presented a detailed account of the income and expenditure from the Web Media Summit held in October 2023. Discussions also encompassed the expansion of WJAI’s main units, namely the Web Journalists Standards Authority (WJSA) and the Web Journalists Technical Committee (WJTC). Engineer Kumar Mayank was nominated as a new member of WJTC.

It was unanimously decided to conduct annual functions, workshops, and orientation sessions regularly by WJAI, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and development within the association. Moreover, the issuance of new ID cards to both new and existing members was ensured to streamline administrative processes.

The meeting concluded with the introduction of new members, including Mohammad Manjar Suleman, Deepak Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Mahfooz Alam, Manish Kumar, Arun Kumar, Sujit Kumar, and Chandra Mohan Singh, who were granted membership by National Vice President Dr. Leena.

However, amidst the positive developments, it was announced that Suraj Kumar (Maner) had been dismissed from the organization due to his involvement in activities deemed detrimental to the organization’s interests. The decision was made in the presence of numerous members, including Treasurer Manjesh Kumar, National Secretaries Vivek Yadav and Suraj Kumar, National Joint Secretary Mithilesh Mishra, Bihar State President Balkrishna, and State Treasurer Rita Singh.
