Bihar: Accused in Child Beheading Case Remains Silent; Details Emerge About Black Magic Motive

Begusarai: The man accused of beheading a second-class student in Begusarai on Saturday has yet to cooperate with the police investigation. The accused, identified as Vijay (35), has remained silent since his arrest. His wife, Gunja Devi, has revealed disturbing details about his recent behavior and past activities.

Gunja Devi disclosed that Vijay had been involved in black magic for years. “My husband always practiced black magic. Four years ago, he left home without a word and returned to the village only four months ago. Since then, he would stay locked inside the house, carrying a cleaver whenever he went out. On Saturdays, he wore black clothes, while on other days, he donned saffron,” she said.

The horrifying incident took place in Barkurba Ward No. 7 of Satha Panchayat. According to villagers, Vijay sacrificed 12-year-old Ankush in the name of black magic. Witnesses reported that when Vijay was caught, he was seen cleaning blood with the cleaver and laughing maniacally before becoming subdued after receiving a few slaps.

Ankush’s head and torso were discovered separately on Saturday, causing profound grief among his family. The child’s father has been silent since the rites, and his mother is in a state of shock, with local women providing support.

Gunja Devi further explained that when Vijay returned home four months ago, he refused to eat the food prepared by her, opting instead to cook his own meals separately. She also mentioned that their marital life had been troubled for years, including a period when she was forced to leave her in-laws’ house due to domestic abuse.

Reena Devi, the mother of the deceased, expressed her anguish, saying, “We have not harmed anyone. My husband supports the family through farming and business, yet Vijay mercilessly killed our son. He practices black magic.”

Villagers speculate that Vijay’s actions were an attempt to appease Goddess Shakti through human sacrifice, a claim supported by the fact that his mother was also involved in black magic.

Ankush’s younger brother, Ansh, who witnessed the horrific event, recounted how Vijay lured his brother with biscuits, tied him to a tree, and then killed him. Ansh managed to escape and hide in a nearby field.

The police have recovered the cleaver used in the crime and are continuing their investigation. SHO Rohit Kumar Gupta stated, “The cleaver has been recovered, and the accused is being interrogated. Despite repeated attempts, he remains uncooperative. As directed by senior officers, further actions, including legal proceedings, will be initiated. We are also searching for the accused’s mother, who is currently missing.”

The quick intervention of the police prevented a possible lynching of the accused by the enraged villagers, who were determined to take justice into their own hands. Local leaders such as Mukhiya representative Mohammad Aminuddin and Sarpanch representative Mohammad Akram played a crucial role in the police’s rescue operation.
