Patna Women’s College Launches ‘SAMARTH’ Social Work Club to Empower Students for Social Change
Patna: The Department of Social Work at Patna Women’s College has inaugurated its highly anticipated Social Work Club, ‘SAMARTH,’ with an orientation program designed to inspire students to actively contribute to societal development. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mridul Mishra, Head of the Department of Social Work and Club Coordinator, who welcomed the guest speaker, Sunil Kumar Jha, a former Consultant with UNICEF. In his address, Jha highlighted the essential role of social workers as catalysts for change, underscoring the need for empathy, dedication, and perseverance in fostering social transformation.
During the event, Dr. Mridul Mishra led the students in taking a solemn oath to uphold the values of service, integrity, and commitment throughout their journey in social work. This initiative aims to instill a sense of responsibility and ethical conduct in future social workers.
A significant moment of the program was the formal unveiling of the SAMARTH Social Work Club’s logo by the dignitaries, which symbolizes the club’s mission to empower communities and promote inclusive growth. The logo reflects the club’s commitment to addressing real-world challenges through collaborative efforts.
The vote of thanks was presented by Alok John, Dean of National and International Collaborations and Consultancy Services at Patna Women’s College, who expressed gratitude to the esteemed guest, faculty, and students for their active participation. Faculty members from the Social Work Department, including Sister Sanjana A.C. and Sister Bhagyam A.C., were also present, supporting the initiative.
Moderated by Preety Singh, President of the Social Work Club and a student in the Department of Social Work, the event set a positive tone for ‘SAMARTH.’ The club is poised to become a vibrant platform for students to engage in various projects and activities aimed at addressing social issues and building a just and equitable society.
