Patna Marathon 2024: Authorities Gear Up for December Event Promoting De-Addiction

Patna: A review meeting of the Patna Marathon Organizing Committee was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Mayank Warwade. The marathon, scheduled for December 1, 2024, is being organized by the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department to promote de-addiction. During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the need for inter-departmental coordination and directed officials to ensure proper crowd management, traffic control, and law and order.

Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, Secretary of the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department, highlighted that the marathon will feature national and international athletes. The event aims to raise awareness about de-addiction as part of the Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan. Participants will compete in four categories: Marathon (42 km), Half Marathon (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km, with the route starting and ending at Gandhi Maidan.

The Commissioner urged officials from various departments, including the police, municipal authorities, health services, and disaster management, to work closely together. He stressed the importance of flawless arrangements, particularly in managing the crowd, ensuring smooth traffic flow, and maintaining security.

District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra assured that all necessary preparations would be completed on time. The Commissioner also instructed the Civil Surgeon, Patna, to provide adequate medical support, including ALS and BLS ambulances along the marathon route.

The Patna Municipal Corporation will ensure proper sanitation, lighting, and water supply along the route. Additional toilets and mobile water stations will also be set up. The City Executive Officer will oversee these arrangements, ensuring a clean and well-maintained marathon path.

The Traffic Superintendent will prepare a detailed plan for managing vehicle movement, including traffic diversions and barricades along the marathon route. Emergency response teams will be on standby, and temporary control rooms will be set up for crowd control and security management.

Key officials, including Inspector General of Police Garima Malik, Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, and others, were present at the meeting to discuss their respective departments’ responsibilities for the successful organization of the Patna Marathon.
