Aadhaar Seeding Deadline For Ration Card Holders Extended To June 30

Patna : Ration card holders in Bihar have been granted a reprieve as the state’s Food and Consumer Protection Department announced an extension of the deadline for mandatory Aadhaar seeding. The updated deadline is now June 30, moving from the earlier cut-off of March 31.

The directive comes as part of the Centre’s ongoing implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013. Under the scheme, all members listed on ration cards issued through the Targeted Public Distribution System are required to link their Aadhaar numbers.

The department, in a notice issued on Thursday, urged all beneficiaries to complete the Aadhaar seeding process by the new deadline. Free eKYC services for seeding are available at any vendor outlet equipped with an EPOS machine under the public distribution system.

Officials have warned that failure to complete the process by 30 June could lead to the removal of unlinked individuals from ration cards. From July 1, food grain entitlements for such individuals will be discontinued.
