Patna: In a bold political move ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced plans to contest all seats across the state. The declaration was made by AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh during a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, signalling the party’s intent to expand its footprint in Bihar.

Singh said the AAP would enter the election fray “with full strength”, and that decisions regarding seat-sharing and other strategies would be made jointly by the party’s central and state leadership. The announcement marks a significant shift for AAP, which until now has had limited presence in Bihar’s political landscape.

Launching a sharp attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ally, Janata Dal (United), Singh accused them of hypocrisy and mistreatment of Biharis, especially in the national capital. “BJP leaders in Delhi insult Biharis by calling them Bangladeshis and demolishing their homes. But when they come to Bihar, they pretend to embrace them,” he said.

Referring to recent demolition drives in Delhi, Singh alleged that the BJP was targeting long-time residents from Bihar and other eastern states. “This insult will not be tolerated. BJP is driving out Biharis from Delhi; the people of Bihar should now show BJP the way out of Bihar,” he said.

Singh also criticised the central government over recent transport disasters, including railway, aviation, and helicopter incidents, accusing it of shirking accountability. “After every accident, we hear a ritual statement that politics should not be done over it. But what about fixing responsibility? Shouldn’t human lives be valued?” he asked.
