AC Vending Zone for Meat and Chicken to Be Built in Patna; Rs 9 Crore Plan Underway

An air-conditioned vending zone for meat and chicken will be constructed in Patna to reduce traffic congestion and improve hygiene, inspired by the Rs 9,03,37,600 Kadamkuan model.

Patna: An air-conditioned vending zone will soon be constructed in Patna’s Boring Road area to provide a modern, traffic-free shopping experience for meat and chicken buyers. The initiative aims to address persistent traffic congestion around the existing meat market in Ward 23 by relocating vendors into a planned, enclosed space where shoppers can make purchases in comfort.

The decision to create this new zone comes on the back of the successful Kadamkuan Vending Zone project, which was inaugurated four months ago. Built using 400 tonnes of steel at a cost of Rs 9,03,37,600, the Kadamkuan facility marked the city’s first fully steel vending zone. It accommodates 150 street vendors who pay a monthly rent of Rs 1,000, and it operates from 5 am to 10 pm daily.

Encouraged by this success, the Patna Municipal Corporation recently approved the construction of four more vending zones across the city. Among these is a new site planned for vegetable vendors on a corporation plot in Dashratha near the Sai temple in Ward 14.
