Sabour: Dr N Vijayalakshmi, Additional Chief Secretary of Bihar’s Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department, visited Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) in Sabour on Saturday, highlighting the importance of integrating animal husbandry and fisheries with agriculture to ensure sustainable rural development.

She was accompanied by Abhishek Ranjan, Director of Fisheries, and Bhagalpur District Magistrate Dr Naval Kishore Chaudhary. The university community welcomed the dignitaries with a traditional song, and Vice-Chancellor Dr D R Singh honoured Dr Vijayalakshmi with a bouquet, shawl, and memento.

Dr Singh presented an overview of the university’s academic, research and extension work through a detailed ‘Safarnama’, outlining efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and innovation across Bihar. He highlighted key milestones in education, crop research, and outreach initiatives aimed at empowering farmers.

Addressing faculty and students, Dr Vijayalakshmi reflected on her tenure as Secretary in the Agriculture Department, citing initiatives launched under her leadership that significantly advanced Bihar’s agricultural output. She stressed the need to tap into the state’s potential in fisheries and animal husbandry to complement agricultural gains.
