Adarsh Central Jail and District Legal Services Authority Set Up Stall at Bihar Saras Mela

Patna: For the first time, a joint stall by Adarsh Central Jail, Beur, and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Patna, has been set up at the ongoing Bihar Saras Mela. This initiative is part of the action plan of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA) and has been implemented under the guidance of Rupesh Dev, Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman of DLSA, Patna, and leadership of Nitin Tripathi, Secretary, DLSA, Patna.

Adarsh Central Jail and District Legal Services Authority Set Up Stall at Bihar Saras Mela

The stall was inaugurated by Shilpi Soniraj, Member Secretary, BSLSA, and Rupesh Dev, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Patna. The event was attended by Nitin Tripathi, officials from BSLSA, Judicial Officer Aavriti Naithani, Superintendent of Adarsh Central Jail, employees of DLSA, panel advocates, para-legal volunteers, and jail personnel. The Bihar Saras Mela is being held from December 12 to December 26, 2024.

The stall aims to spread awareness about legal aid, Lok Adalat, mediation services, and NALSA schemes offered by DLSA, Patna. It also showcases and sells products created by inmates of Adarsh Central Jail to encourage their skills and strengthen their morale. This initiative ensures that prisoners’ time is utilized positively and productively.

Through this unique collaboration, the stall combines social outreach with empowerment, creating an opportunity to educate the public on legal services while promoting the creativity of incarcerated individuals. The effort marks a significant step in integrating legal awareness and inmate rehabilitation into public events like the Bihar Saras Mela.
