ADG Kundan Krishnan Reveals Sheru Gang's Reach in Bihar Crime, Vows Arrests in Chandan Mishra Murder

Patna: Amidst a surge in criminal incidents across Bihar, the recent murder of notorious Buxar gangster Chandan Mishra inside Paras Hospital in Patna has intensified scrutiny on the state’s law and order. In response, ADG Kundan Krishnan has shed light on critical details regarding the criminal conspiracies linked to Omkarnath alias Sheru Singh, revealing how the gang leader has allegedly orchestrated criminal activities even while incarcerated.

ADG Krishnan stated that the Sheru gang is widely known throughout Buxar district. He recounted their history, noting, “In the year 2008, these two [Sheru and Chandan Mishra] had committed 7-8 murders together.” He further detailed that in the same year, a district court had sentenced them to death for the murder of a person named Keshri ji, though the High Court later commuted the sentence to life imprisonment. Krishnan also mentioned that Sheru Singh had previously escaped from jail, only to be recaptured from the Nepal border and subsequently transferred between various jails in Ara and Buxar.

Jail-Linked Operations and Recent Incidents

The ADG confirmed that while Sheru and Chandan once collaborated in their criminal endeavors, their relationship soured over a murder case. Currently, Sheru Singh is lodged in Purulia jail in West Bengal. Despite his incarceration, his direct involvement was uncovered in the Tanishq showroom robbery in Ara in March, for which he was remanded. Interestingly, Sheru Singh’s family had previously expressed concerns, alleging that the Bihar Police might harm him under the pretext of taking him on remand.

Commitment to Combating Organized Crime

Regarding the recent high-profile murder of Chandan Mishra in Paras Hospital, ADG Krishnan expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation. He asserted that “soon all the shooters will be arrested and Bihar Police will gain control over organized crime.”

The ADG also reiterated Chandan Mishra’s extensive criminal history, stating, “Chandan Mishra was a notorious criminal. He had committed dozens of murders. He was convicted in this case and had come out on parole.” He added that Mishra’s death sentence had been converted to life imprisonment on appeal and that he was also involved in the land business.
