AI to Monitor Cyber Criminals; Rs 180 Crore Fraud Through Spam Calls in a Year Detected by AI Technology
Patna: Cyber criminals have defrauded individuals across the country of Rs 180 crore in 2024 through spam calls and fraudulent links. In response, telecom companies are employing AI-powered software to detect and prevent such crimes. Airtel has rolled out AI technology specifically targeting cyber crime in regions like Bihar and Jharkhand, successfully identifying 22 crore spam calls and 70 lakh fraudulent SMS in just 27 days.
Sujay Chakrabarti, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel in Bihar and Jharkhand, emphasized the growing threat of scams in the rapidly evolving digital world. To address these threats, data scientists have developed AI algorithms that identify suspected spam calls and messages in real time. The system monitors call frequency, duration, and patterns, alerting users if suspicious activity is detected.
No additional apps are needed for consumers to benefit from this AI-driven protection. The software works by analyzing calls and SMS for familiar spam patterns, ensuring that potential fraud is caught quickly. The AI system is capable of tracking 1.5 billion messages and 2.5 billion call records in just two milliseconds, ensuring real-time detection and security.
This technology is expected to significantly curb cyber crime by monitoring fraudulent activity and sending timely alerts to customers about potential threats, especially in high-risk areas like Bihar and Jharkhand.
