AIDS Awareness Lecture and Prize Distribution Held at SJMC, Patna

Patna: A lecture on AIDS awareness, along with a prize distribution ceremony for winners of a reels-making competition, was organized by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) of Aryabhatta Knowledge University in collaboration with the Bihar State AIDS Control Institute. The event took place in the SJMC auditorium and focused on the role of youth in the fight against AIDS.
Assistant Director (Youth Branch) of the Bihar State AIDS Control Institute, Alok Kumar Singh, was the guest speaker and discussed in detail the causes of AIDS, prevention methods, and the importance of blood donation safety. He urged the students to use media to raise awareness about AIDS, emphasizing the impact of youth involvement. Singh also warned about the risks associated with drug use, particularly the repeated sharing of needles, which has contributed to the spread of HIV in Bihar.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Manisha Prakash, Academic In-charge of Aryabhatta Knowledge University and Faculty In-charge of SJMC, who stressed the importance of public health communication. She praised the Bihar State AIDS Control Organization for its efforts in raising awareness through programs like the reels-making competition.
The winners of the competition were announced, with Ankit Kumar and Aditya Kumar taking first place, Sushant Kumar and Aditya Kumar in second place, and Anjali Tiwari and Prabhas Kumar in third place. They were awarded by Alok Kumar Singh, Dr. Manisha Prakash, and competition coordinator Dr. Sandeep Kumar Dubey.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from co-convener Dr. Snehashish Vardhan. Several teachers from the department, including Dr. Sandeep Kumar and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Dubey, along with Bihar State AIDS Control Institute consultants Deepak Kumar and Ranveer Patel, were present, as were students from various sessions of the university. The program was conducted by Hrithik Roshan, a student from SJMC.
