AIIMS Patna Observes International OMFS Day with Awareness Initiatives

Patna: The Department of Dentistry at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna organized International OMFS (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s) Day with a series of events aimed at raising awareness about oral health and maxillofacial surgery.

The program was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Saurabh Varshney, Executive Director of AIIMS Patna, in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar, Medical Superintendent; Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Sinha, Dean (Academics); and Shri Nilotpal Bal, Deputy Director (Administration).

The event was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Shivendra Choudhary, Head of the Department of Dentistry (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), with significant contributions from faculty members Dr. Sailesh Kumar Mukul, Dr. Naqoosh Haidry, and Dr. Rudra Deo Kumar.

AIIMS Patna’s Department of Dentistry operates a 12-bed ward specializing in complex oral and maxillofacial surgeries, including TMJ ankylosis, jaw defects, oral cancer treatments, and other related procedures. The department also offers a postgraduate program (MDS) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is recognized for providing high-quality treatment to patients.

To mark the occasion, the department organized a street play at the OPD foyer of AIIMS Patna, highlighting key oral health issues. Additionally, a free health camp was conducted at Gardani Bagh, where awareness sessions on oral cancer prevention and early detection were held, along with free screenings for the local community.

The Department of Dentistry (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) at AIIMS Patna remains committed to promoting dental health awareness and improving community well-being through education and advanced medical care.
