Air Quality in Patna deteriorates as AQI crosses 200; Mild Cold expected in 8 districts
Patna: Air pollution levels in Patna and other districts of Bihar have started rising, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossing 200 in several areas. On Thursday, Patna recorded an AQI of 239, while Bettiah, Bhagalpur, and Katihar registered AQI levels of 209, 204, and 206, respectively. The increasing moisture in the air is contributing to the rise in dust particles, leading to worsening air quality across the state.
The weather in Bihar will remain dry for the next five days, with no significant change in temperature expected. According to the Meteorological Center, easterly winds will blow for the next 24 hours, leading to cloudy skies in many districts. However, mild cold is likely to be felt in eight districts, including Katihar, East Champaran, Bhagalpur, Munger, Khagaria, Begusarai, Purnia, and Araria, with a potential drop in minimum temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
In terms of temperature, Begusarai recorded a high of 35.9°C, while Patna experienced 33.3°C. Other notable temperatures include 34.0°C in Motihari, 32.1°C in Munger, and 29.0°C in Kishanganj.
As air pollution worsens, residents are advised to take precautions, particularly those with respiratory issues, as the poor air quality could have health impacts.
