Ambulance Stopped for CM’s Convoy in Katihar, Pregnant Woman Struggles in Traffic for 2 Hours
Katihar: An ambulance carrying a pregnant woman was stuck in traffic for two hours in Katihar on Wednesday due to security arrangements for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s convoy. The woman, suffering from severe labor pain, was being taken to Sadar Hospital by her family when the vehicle was halted.
A video of the incident has surfaced, showing the woman’s relatives pleading with the police to let them pass. In the video, a woman is heard saying, “We are taking the patient, but we have been stopped for CM’s arrival.” Despite their repeated requests, the ambulance was allowed to move only after the convoy had passed.
Traffic restrictions were imposed two hours before the Chief Minister’s arrival as he returned to the helipad at BSAP-07 ground after a review meeting at Katihar Engineering College. The main road from Ambedkar Chowk to Shaheed Chowk was closed, leading to heavy congestion. Traffic was halted near Mirchaibari Chowk as well.
Local residents and shopkeepers expressed frustration over the disruption, demanding better planning from the administration to avoid such situations in the future. Many criticized the lack of an emergency passage for ambulances, highlighting the urgent need for more considerate traffic management during VIP movements.
