Amit Shah Pledges Construction of Grand Sita Temple in Sitamarhi
Sitamarhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Thursday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will build a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi, Bihar. Speaking at a rally, Shah emphasized the BJP’s commitment to cultural and religious projects, undeterred by electoral concerns.
“We, the BJP, don’t fear the ‘vote bank’. Prime Minister Modi has completed the Ram Lalla temple in Ayodhya, and now, the remaining task is to create a grand memorial at the birthplace of Ma Sita. Those who distanced themselves from the Ram temple cannot accomplish this, but if anyone can build a temple as exemplary as Ma Sita’s life, it is Narendra Modi and the BJP,” Shah said.
According to Hindu scriptures, Sita, wife of Lord Ram, was born from an earthen pot while Raja Janak was ploughing a field near Sitamarhi.
Shah’s announcement comes just months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi oversaw the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya in January. Sitamarhi, one of the 40 constituencies in Bihar, is set to vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20.
During the rally, Shah criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, whose party is part of the opposition INDIA bloc. He accused Yadav of compromising principles for political gain, aiming to make his son the Chief Minister by allying with the Congress party, which Shah claimed has historically opposed the interests of backward and extremely backward communities.
“Congress and RJD never considered awarding the Bharat Ratna to former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur; it was the Modi government that did so,” Shah added. He concluded by stating, “Bihar needs ‘vikasraj’ (rule of development), not ‘jungleraj’ (lawlessness).”
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar.
