Amrit Bharat Express Halts for Three Hours Due to Technical Fault in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur

Amrit Bharat Express halted for three hours near Bhagwanpur of Muzaffarpur district due to compressor fault, delaying journey to Lokmanya Tilak Terminal.

Muzaffarpur: The Amrit Bharat Express, running from Saharsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, was stranded for nearly three hours today due to a mechanical fault, disrupting services and triggering delays on the route.

The incident occurred near Bhagwanpur at level crossing gate number 30, shortly after the train crossed Goraul station around 9:07am. At approximately 9:12am, the train came to an unscheduled halt due to a signal failure linked to a malfunction in the onboard compressor system. Initial reports from the locomotive crew suggested a battery-related issue, prompting the arrival of electrical department technicians. However, a subsequent inspection revealed a dual compressor failure. A specialist engineer from the Muzaffarpur coaching depot was dispatched to carry out repairs.

The train eventually resumed its journey toward Hajipur at around 12:30pm, following successful repairs. The delay also impacted the movement of the high-speed Vande Bharat Express, which was prioritised for clearance. Railway staff temporarily repositioned the Amrit Bharat Express to Bhagwanpur station using a rear engine, allowing Vande Bharat to pass. Heavy rainfall added further complications during the delay.

The Amrit Bharat Express is one of Bihar’s newest long-distance trains and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 April as part of the Centre’s broader push to modernise rail connectivity in the region. This was the second Amrit Bharat train introduced in the state.
