Patna: The Bihar government has announced that animals affected by floods will get free fodder. The Animal and Fisheries Resources Department said that camps will be set up in disaster-hit areas to distribute fodder with the help of district officials.
According to the department, big animals need 6 kg of fodder per day, small animals need 3 kg, and sheep and goats need 1 kg. Fodder will be given for three days to a week at a time, depending on the flood situation. Tokens will be distributed to animal owners based on the number and type of animals they have to ensure proper distribution.
Meanwhile, the state’s Education Department has shared that Bihar now has a better student-teacher ratio than the national average. Due to the recruitment of more than three lakh teachers in the last few years, the ratio has improved to 28 students per teacher from class 1 to 12.
Officials said that in 2015-16, there were 89 students per teacher in primary schools. This has now come down significantly. Dr S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, said that with new teachers joining soon, the ratio will improve even further, helping students get better attention in government schools.
