Australian Tourist Alleges Assault by Vietnamese YouTuber in Bodh Gaya

An Australian tourist in Bodh Gaya has accused a Vietnamese YouTuber of assault, prompting a police investigation after footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Bodh Gaya/Patna: An Australian tourist has filed a police complaint in Bodh Gaya, alleging that he was verbally abused and physically assaulted by a Vietnamese YouTuber. The incident, which reportedly occurred on Wednesday, has gained attention after a video of the altercation circulated widely on social media.

The tourist, Tran Phuong Thu, claimed that the YouTuber attacked him without provocation and accused the content creator of deliberately targeting a group of pilgrims led by Buddhist monk Minh Tue. Thu further alleged that the YouTuber disseminated false and defamatory videos about the group online.

Following the complaint, local police arrived at the scene near the Children’s Park checkpoint and initiated an investigation. Authorities are currently verifying the authenticity of the viral video and collecting evidence related to the incident.

Manoj Kumar Singh, the officer in charge of the Bodh Gaya police station, stated that both the complainant and the accused are present in Bodh Gaya. “We are investigating the allegations of verbal abuse and assault. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation,” he said.

Bodh Gaya, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a significant pilgrimage destination for Buddhists worldwide, as it is believed to be the place where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment. The area typically maintains heightened security due to the influx of international visitors and religious significance.
