Bam Canal Dam Breaks in Muzaffarpur, Floods Affect 1000 People and Destroy Crops

Muzaffarpur: The Bam canal dam in the Kudhni area of Muzaffarpur broke early in the morning, causing widespread flooding and panic among the local population. Around 1000 people in two villages have been affected, with many farmers suffering significant crop losses. Upon receiving reports of the incident, Kudhni Circle Officer Satish Kumar and Block Development Officer Amarjeet Kumar visited the site to assess the damage and the ongoing situation.

The dam reportedly had a leakage a few days prior, but no action was taken to address it. The increased pressure on the structure led to its eventual collapse, allowing river water to rapidly flood the nearby areas. Residents are facing a flood-like situation as the water continues to enter the villages.

Circle Officer Satish Kumar confirmed the dam breach and stated that the authorities are assessing both the damage to crops and the overall situation. Efforts are underway to provide relief and begin rescue operations for the affected residents.
