Bank Robbery Foiled Near Bihar Regiment Centre

Patna: A robbery attempt targeting a bank employee near the Bihar Regiment Centre in Danapur, Patna, was thwarted on Tuesday after an alert security guard intervened and apprehended the suspects.

Ravi Ranjan Kumar, an employee of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, was carrying Rs 3.84 lakh in cash when he was trailed by three armed men from the Gauraiya Sthan area of Maner. As Kumar neared the Akhaura gate of the military cantonment, the suspects—riding a motorcycle without a number plate—brandished a firearm in an apparent bid to rob him.

Reacting quickly, Kumar ran towards the sentry post at the regiment gate. The suspects attempted to flee but lost control near the gate and were caught by the guard stationed there. The three apprehended men have been identified as Vikas Yadav, Shankar Kumar, and Sonu Yadav—all residents of Koilwar in Bhojpur district.

Police have recovered two country-made pistols, two magazines, 11 live cartridges, two mobile phones, a silver bracelet, and Rs 1,000 in cash from the accused. All three have been taken into custody by Danapur police, and a detailed interrogation is underway to ascertain their criminal backgrounds.
