Banks to Close for 10 Days in March Amid Festivals and Strike

Patna: Banks across the country will remain closed for 10 days in March, including weekends and festival holidays, with an additional two-day strike called by the All India Bank Confederation (AIBC) on March 24 and 25. Customers have been advised to complete their banking transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience.

March is a crucial month for financial activities, including tax filings and savings schemes. The closures come as major festivals such as Holi, Ramadan, and Eid-ul-Fitr coincide, leading to an extended period of non-working days for banks.

Key Bank Holiday Dates

According to SBI Officers Association, the following are the bank holidays in March:

  • Sundays: March 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30
  • Second Saturdays: March 8 and 22
  • Holi: March 14 and 15
  • Eid-ul-Fitr: March 31

In addition, the bank strike on March 24 and 25 could further disrupt services, affecting cheque clearances, cash deposits, and other transactions.

Digital Banking to the Rescue

With banking services set to be impacted throughout March, customers are urged to plan their financial transactions accordingly and make use of online banking options where possible.
