Patna: A 13-year-old boy died by suicide in Bihar’s Barh subdivision, triggering shock and sorrow across the local community. The victim, Sahil Kumar, a Class VII student from Bihari Bigha village under Pandarak police station limits, was found hanging in his room in morning.

According to family members, Sahil, the son of Manjay Mistry, would assist at his father’s furniture shop after school hours. The family admitted to encouraging him to prioritise his studies more, which they claim was a source of concern for the boy.

On the night of the incident, Sahil had worked at the shop with his father until 11pm. After dinner, he retired to his room. The following morning, when a cousin attempted to wake him, there was no response. The family broke open the door and found Sahil dead, hanging from a noose made of a dupatta. His siblings and two other children usually shared the room.

Pandarak police station in-charge Lalit Vijay confirmed that an investigation is underway. While the exact cause behind the suicide remains uncertain, officials said they are speaking to family members and neighbours for further insight. Rajkumar Singh, another local official, stated that the motive has not been conclusively established.
