Ratnesh Kumar, Block Agriculture Officer of Begusarai (Sadar), has been suspended after an internal review found negligence in maize seed distribution.

Begusarai: The Bihar government has suspended a senior agriculture officer in Begusarai district over alleged irregularities in the distribution of maize seeds, following a departmental review ordered by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha.
A high-level meeting of the Agriculture Department was convened to evaluate the current status of maize seed distribution across districts. During the review, a report from the Joint Director of Agriculture, Munger, revealed lapses in the seed distribution process in Begusarai (Sadar) block. As a result, Ratnesh Kumar, the Block Agriculture Officer, was suspended with immediate effect.
“The rights of farmers and the integrity of agricultural schemes cannot be compromised,” said Sinha. “Accountability will be enforced in all districts where irregularities are found, and disciplinary action will follow.”
He added that the state is fully committed to ensuring the timely supply of quality seeds and agricultural inputs to farmers. Measures are being implemented with transparency to safeguard the interests of the farming community and to ensure effective execution of government schemes.
Further inquiries are expected in other districts, and the department has assured that strict action will be taken wherever similar negligence is discovered.
