Begusarai- Munger Bridge To Remain Closed For Two Days For Inspection; Commuters Advised To Use Vikramshila Or Simaria Bridge
Begusarai : The rail-cum-road bridge over the Ganga between Sahebpur Kamal and Munger in Begusarai will be closed for five hours on both January 30 and 31 for inspection and load testing, according to district authorities. Magistrates and police personnel have been deployed on both the Begusarai and Munger sides to manage the situation.
Begusarai District Magistrate Tushar Singla stated that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has scheduled the bridge for assessment on both days, necessitating a temporary suspension of road traffic. The closure will be enforced from 11am to 4pm on January 30 and from 8am to 1pm on January 31. During this period, scientists from the Structural Engineering Research Centre (SERC) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Chennai will conduct instrumentation and testing of the bridge.
Authorities have instructed the deployment of law enforcement personnel to ensure order at key junctions, including NH-31 and the approach road to the rail-cum-road bridge, Shri Krishna Singh Setu. The Ballia Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) have directed officials to remain stationed at strategic points to maintain administrative vigilance and public safety.
To minimise inconvenience, authorities have advised commuters to use alternative routes, including Vikramshila Setu in Bhagalpur and Simaria Rajendra Bridge. Officials from various departments, including local block and police officers, will monitor traffic management and ensure smooth operations during the temporary closure.
