Begusarai: Robbers Loot Jewellery Worth Rs 40 Lakh From Store At Gunpoint

Police Attacked in Motihari During PACS Election Rally; 40.52% Voter Turnout Recorded in Bihar's First Phase

Begusarai: In a daring daylight robbery at PP Jewellers in Begusarai, criminals made off with jewellery worth ₹40 lakh in just 20 minutes. Four armed criminals entered the shop around 1 PM, opening fire and injuring Rajiv, the son of the shop owner, and staff member Ajay. Both sustained minor injuries before Rajiv retaliated, shooting two of the criminals in the thigh with his licensed pistol.

Despite Rajiv’s efforts and the staff raising an alarm that attracted a crowd, two of the criminals managed to escape with the loot. The other two, who were shot, were beaten by the crowd before police intervened and took them to the hospital. The criminals have been identified as Sami Kapoor from Samastipur and Chhotu Kumar, alias Chhote Lal, from Begusarai.

Shop owner Pramod Poddar revealed that the shop was preparing for Dhanteras and, despite having informed the authorities earlier, no security measures were taken. The robbers looted the shop within 15 to 20 minutes before fleeing.

A large police force, including SP Manish, arrived on the scene and is reviewing CCTV footage to identify the remaining criminals.
