Bettiah’s Historic Maharaja Library Set for Renovation, Modern Amenities to be Added
Bettiah: The Maharaja Harendra Kishore Library, a historic landmark in Bettiah, West Champaran district, is set for a significant renovation to restore its grandeur and modernize its facilities. With a budget of Rs 18.97 lakh allocated for repairs and beautification, the project aims to provide a better environment for students who rely on the library for competitive exam preparation.
Built in 1905, the library has long been a cherished resource for the community. It continues to serve as a vital space for study and knowledge, drawing many students. The renovation will not only address aesthetic and structural concerns but also enhance the overall experience for its users.
Mayor Garima Devi Sikaria visited the site for an inspection of the ongoing work. During her visit, she issued a stern warning about the importance of completing the project efficiently and without any negligence. She emphasized the need for rigorous supervision to ensure that the work is done according to the specified plans. Municipal Commissioner Vinod Kumar Singh and Site Incharge Engineer Sujay Suman were instructed to closely monitor the project’s progress.
The planned renovation includes wall putty, painting, and rewiring of all six rooms. Additionally, damaged plaster and ceilings will be repaired to restore the library’s original aesthetic. The renovation will also involve the installation of CCTV cameras for improved security, as well as the laying of paver blocks around the premises to enhance the surrounding infrastructure.
In response to the growing demand from students, the library will be equipped with new desks and benches, providing a more comfortable and conducive space for studying. Furthermore, the library will soon have a Wi-Fi connection, enabling students to access online resources and further improve their learning experience. To ensure cleanliness and convenience, separate toilets for men and women will also be constructed on the premises.
Once completed, the renovated Maharaja Harendra Kishore Library will not only preserve its historical significance but also provide modern amenities, making it a state-of-the-art facility for students in Bettiah.
