Bhagalpur Youth Dies by Suicide After Missing Out on Bihar Police Selection

Bhagalpur: A 25-year-old aspirant died by suicide in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district after not finding his name in the final merit list of Bihar Police recruitment, despite clearing earlier stages of the selection process.

The deceased, identified as Panchanand Chaudhary, was a resident of Godhiyari village under the jurisdiction of Gopalpur police station. He had been preparing for a position in Bihar Police for several years and had successfully passed both the written and physical examinations.

According to family members, Panchanand was confident of being selected and had pinned his hopes on the final list, which was released on Friday. Upon learning that his name was missing, he reportedly went into deep shock. Later, he was found hanging on the first floor of his home.

The family rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Gopalpur, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Dr Sudhanshu Kumar, the in-charge medical officer, said the youth was brought in critical condition but had already died. Initially, the family claimed he had fallen from the roof, but further inquiries revealed it to be a case of suicide.

Gopalpur police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Statements from family members confirmed that Panchanand took his own life. A panchnama was prepared, and the body was sent to Navgachiya sub-divisional hospital for postmortem examination.
