New Patna Airport Terminal to Feature 64 Check-in Counters, Aerobridges and Passenger Comforts

Patna: The Jaya Prakash Narayan International Airport, popularly known as Patna Airport, is poised for a significant transformation with its new, state-of-the-art terminal building nearing completion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the modern facility and a new multi-level parking complex on May 29th, ushering in an era of enhanced air travel for passengers.

The new terminal is designed to offer international-level amenities, drastically increasing the airport’s capacity. Currently handling 34 flights, the airport will be able to accommodate 75 flights post-inauguration. Passenger capacity is also set to soar from 2.5 million to approximately 10 million annually, addressing the growing demand for air travel in the region.

Accompanying the terminal is a newly constructed multi-level parking facility with a capacity for 750 vehicles, also slated for inauguration on May 29. To ensure seamless connectivity between the airport complex and the parking area, a 150-meter travellator has been installed.

The redeveloped airport complex features two entry gates and one exit gate, with separate access routes available from Chitkohra and Nehru Path via Sheikhpura Morh. Upon entering the complex, passengers can directly access the first floor via an up ramp, allowing vehicles to drop off passengers at the main gate and exit via a down ramp. Vehicles can also proceed directly to the multi-level parking from the up ramp.

Inside the new terminal, passengers will find eight departure gates and four arrival gates. For departing passengers, there are eight gates on the first floor for boarding flights. The new terminal building will also feature a passenger boarding bridge, eliminating the need for separate stairs and buses for boarding. While one such bridge has been constructed, four more are planned after the terminal becomes operational.

The facility is equipped with 15 lifts and four escalators for passenger convenience. Upon arrival, passengers will be able to collect their luggage efficiently from a conveyor belt.
