BHABHUA – The registration of 297 farmers in Kaimur district has been locked due to their engagement in unethical activities, specifically the burning of crop residues, despite warnings from the administration.

The identification of these farmers participating in burning crop residues across all blocks of Kaimur district has been conducted. In response, the registration of all these farmers has been locked, rendering them ineligible for the benefits of the Agriculture Department’s operational scheme. Revati Raman, District Agriculture Officer, explained that the identification process is carried out using satellite technology from the district headquarters.

As of now, the identification of 297 farmers has been completed, and their registrations have been locked. Additionally, action has been taken against 18 farmers under the CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code). These farmers will be ineligible for the department’s operational scheme for the next three years. It’s reported that 415 fire points have been identified in the district.

The Mohania block has the highest number of identified farmers with 66. Despite awareness efforts by the Agriculture Department to discourage burning crop residues, some farmers are still engaging in this harmful practice.
