Motihari: In a vibrant display of patriotism, Mahatma Gandhi Central University Bihar (MGCU) celebrated the 75th Republic Day with unmatched enthusiasm and fervor on Friday. The campus was adorned with the national tricolor, and the air echoed with the sounds of unity as students, faculty, and staff came together to commemorate this significant day at Gandhi Bhawan.

The day commenced with the solemn hoisting of the national flag by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Srivastava, symbolizing the unity and diversity that defines our great nation.

In his powerful and thought-provoking speech, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Srivastava emphasized the significance of democracy, unity, and the responsibilities of the academic community and reminded everyone of their patriotic duty as educators and learners. He stressed the need for active participation in national development and urged all to contribute their skills and knowledge for the greater good. 

The Vice-Chancellor took the opportunity to acknowledge and applaud the achievements of students, faculty, and staff. He highlighted notable accomplishments and expressed pride in the collective success of the MGCU community.

Students showcased their talents through cultural performances that celebrated the rich tapestry of Indian heritage. Dance, music, and other cultural presentations captivated the audience.

In a stirring conclusion to the Republic Day celebrations, Campus Director Prof. Prasoon Dutt Singh, in his Vote of Thanks, reiterated the institution’s unwavering commitment to the vision of “Viksit Bharat” – a developed and progressive India.

On the occasion of Republic Day, MGCU proudly inaugurated the annual sports extravaganza, Umang, igniting the spirit of competition and camaraderie among the university community. The Umang Sports Fest, organized by the University Sports Board, is a week-long celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness. The fest will witness students, faculties, and administrative staff competing in various sports and games, fostering a sense of healthy competition and community spirit.

As the anchor of the event, Prof Bimlesh Kumar Singh brought energy and eloquence, steering the program with grace and enthusiasm.

Prof. Shirish Mishra, Prof. Ranjeet Kumar Choudhary, Prof. Pranveer Singh, Prof. Asheesh Srivastava, Prof. Sunil Mahawar, Prof. Devdutt Chaturvedi, Prof. Pavnesh Kumar, OSD(Admin) Shri Sachchidanand Singh, CoE Dr. Krishna Kant Upadhyaya, Head, and faculty members of all Departments, students were present at the event.
