Bihar: Adverse Weather Forces Third Consecutive Day of Flight Cancellations at Darbhanga Airport
DARBHANGA: On Wednesday, all 12 scheduled flights to and from Darbhanga Airport faced cancellations due to adverse weather conditions. This marks the third instance this year where all flights departing from Darbhanga Airport were disrupted. Similar situations were witnessed on January 2 and 15, amplifying the challenges faced by travelers relying on this airport.
The cancellations affected flights originating from various key cities, including Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Despite weather-related flight disruptions in the past, many passengers had already reached the airport, causing distress and panic among those expecting to fly.
The predicament exposes a persistent issue at Darbhanga Airport, which has been facilitating commercial flights for over three years. Despite this period, the facility lacks the capability to handle arrivals and departures during inclement weather conditions. The incomplete ground lighting infrastructure becomes a crucial factor contributing to the recurrent flight cancellations whenever adverse weather prevails.
