Bhagalpur: In a close call, the Agartala-Malda-Anand Vihar Weekly Express, traversing via Bhagalpur, narrowly avoided a potential disaster on its first day of operations this Tuesday. The 20501 Up Agartala-Malda-Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express, which departed from Malda station at 3:13 pm, encountered a life-threatening incident some distance from Sahibganj station.

Unknown individuals with malicious intent strategically placed a substantial boulder on the railway track, setting the stage for a perilous situation. As the train passed, the boulder struck the engine’s catcher, resulting in a loud and alarming breakage. Fortunately, the quick thinking of the engine pilot prevented a major catastrophe, and the train narrowly averted disaster.

The incident prompted a temporary halt to the train, which arrived in Bhagalpur 48 minutes ahead of schedule. The engine driver and guard promptly informed railway officials and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). The revelation of the incident triggered panic among railway workers.

Preliminary reports suggest that the mischievous act was not random, with indications pointing towards a potential conspiracy to derail the train. Authorities fear that placing the boulder on the track was a deliberate attempt to cause a catastrophic accident. Vikas Choubey, Malda DRM, stated that the exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined.

A technical team and the RPF have already reached the scene, initiating a thorough investigation. Collaborating with the local administration, the authorities plan to gather evidence and ascertain the motives behind this hazardous act. Once the investigation concludes, appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible for this potentially fatal sabotage.
