Patna : Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, conducted a one-day training programme on mushroom production under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sabour, on March 31. The event, aimed at empowering tribal farmers with sustainable livelihood options, was inaugurated by M.K. Sinha, Principal of Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour.

M. K. Sinha emphasised that the initiative, carried out under the guidance of BAU Vice-Chancellor D.R. Singh and the supervision of Director of Research A.K. Singh, is expected to equip tribal farmers with the skills needed to become self-reliant. He highlighted the potential of mushroom cultivation in enhancing income and providing new livelihood opportunities for the tribal community.

Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sabour, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, and Chief Investigator of the project Ravindra Kumar, were also present at the event.

The technical session featured expert insights from Anita Kumari, Pawan Kumar, and Neha Pandey, who provided in-depth knowledge on topics including types of mushrooms, production techniques, pest and disease management, harvesting, and entrepreneurship development in mushroom farming.

Neha Pandey and Md. Jyaul Hoda served as coordinators of the programme, which witnessed the participation of 100 tribal farmers and women from Bhagalpur district.
