Bihar Agricultural University Gears Up for National Farmers Conference

Sabour: Preparations are in full swing at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, for the upcoming National Farmers Conference-cum-Farmers Fair, scheduled for March 11-12. The event, an annual highlight for the agricultural community, will showcase the latest advancements in farming technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

With just days to go, work on setting up pandals and stalls is progressing rapidly, while buildings across the university campus have been illuminated with colorful lights. Several committees have been formed to oversee accommodation, field visits, and logistical arrangements for farmers attending from across Bihar and the country. The preparations are being closely monitored by Vice-Chancellor Dr. D. R. Singh.

This year’s theme, “Prosperous Farmers Through Agricultural Entrepreneurship,” aims to emphasize the role of innovation and business in modern agriculture.

A Grand Showcase of Farming Innovations

The event is expected to attract participation from both government and private organizations, with companies from across India already booking stalls. Some of the key attractions include:

  • Latest agricultural technologies developed by the university.
  • Horticulture exhibitions, featuring demonstrations and sales of agricultural drones.
  • Value-added farm products, presented and sold by farmers.
  • Seed and plant material exhibitions, offering various crop varieties.

  • Progressive farmer awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to agriculture.
  • Intellectual farmers’ meet, an interactive session for knowledge sharing.

A special garden exhibition will also be held, where farmers can enter vegetables, fruits, flowers, and preserved products from their fields into a competition. The best entries will be awarded by the university.

Bihar Governor Likely to Inaugurate

The Governor of Bihar, Arif Mohammad Khan, is expected to inaugurate the fair as the chief guest. The event, often referred to as the “Kumbh of Farmers,” is eagerly awaited by both local residents and the wider farming community.

Inviting farmers to the event, Vice-Chancellor Dr. D. R. Singh said, “This fair will bring together all aspects of agriculture under one roof, offering farmers a unique opportunity to see and understand the latest advancements in the field.”
